Since its inception, the institution has played a pioneering role in nursing education in the state and has consistently contributed to the healthcare sector by producing competent, dedicated, and compassionate nursing professionals.

Over the years, MCON graduates have served with distinction in various healthcare institutions across India and abroad. Recognizing its commitment to excellence in nursing education, the institution was upgraded to a College of Nursing on 11 October 2005 and commenced the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Nursing programme is scheduled to commence from the 2026 academic session.

The programmes offered by the college are recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and affiliated with Mizoram University. The institution has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a B Grade, making it the only stand-alone accredited nursing college in the North-Eastern region of India. In addition, the college has been awarded ISO 9001:2015 Certification, reflecting its commitment to quality education and continuous improvement.

The college continues to strive for excellence in nursing education, research, and service, with the goal of preparing highly skilled nursing professionals to meet the evolving healthcare needs of society.
