STRATEGIC PLAN FOR MIZORAM COLLEGE OF NURSING

The Strategic plan for the college was developed to achieve its mission and vision. This was done by conducting a SWOT analysis of the college, after which strategic goals were formed, which set the guideline for preparation of the strategic plans.

STRATEGIC PLAN

1. To produce competent and quality nursing professionals

a. Achieve academic proficiency

Conduct periodical tests, exams and assessment
Provide structured remedial measures through retest and feedback
Arrange curriculum meeting at regular intervals
Achieve at least 80% of the students with first class results in University Examinations.

b. Demonstrate clinical skill competency

Provide hands-on learning through supportive supervision both in the Laboratory and clinic
Build updated and well-equipped demonstration laboratories
Secure sufficient high-quality clinical placement site
Develop alternative clinical experience as need arises
Arrange field trip to get first-hand information and experience

c. Develop leadership and research

Build systems to increase participation on college committees
Support students to fulfil leadership roles within the college, profession and community
Collaborate research findings with clinical findings

d. Human resource planning and development

Vocational Preparation Programme (Finishing school) is conducted every year for the final year students
Participation in State and National level competition through Students’ Nurses Association
Campus interview are conducted

2. To develop teaching faculty for excellence

Keep updated with latest knowledge and skills through regular training and workshops
Create an environment in which faculty and scholarly activity will be accomplished
Engage in student and student-faculty research works
Provide opportunities for higher education (PG, PhD programmes)
Act as a role model who can influence systems and policies through professional leadership

3. To improve/ upgrade infrastructure and assets

Upgrade and technically equip library
Use advanced teaching aids, installation of mounted LCD projectors in classrooms
Provision of recreational facilities
Construction of residence quarters for staffs, boys’ hostel and multipurpose hall
Installation of fire safety equipment
Beautification of college premises
Maintenance of College Building (alteration, modification and painting)
Improvement of laboratories (pre-clinical laboratory)
Improvement of transportation facilities including internal roads
Creation of posts when required
Increasing rainwater harvesting
Find sources of funding agencies

4. To expand college programmes and community projects
